## Major Investment in UAE's Pharmaceutical Sector
LIFEPharma, the UAE's sole USFDA-approved pharmaceutical manufacturer, has announced a significant investment in Abu Dhabi. The company plans to establish a Dh700 million advanced manufacturing platform at Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD). This development follows a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with AD Ports, the parent company of KEZAD.
## Strategic Partnership
The agreement was formalized during the "Make it in the Emirates 2026" event, with key figures such as Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi of AD Ports Group and Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil of VPS Health present. LIFEPharma will lead the project's development, while AD Ports will provide essential infrastructure and government coordination.
## Expanding Pharmaceutical Capabilities
The new platform aims to enhance UAE's production capacity in three main areas: vaccines, oncology treatments, and advanced injectables. This initiative is expected to contribute Dh2 billion to the GDP and create over 1,000 skilled jobs, supporting the UAE's industrial diversification and healthcare resilience.
## Supporting National Strategy
This project aligns with the UAE's industrial strategy, which prioritizes pharmaceuticals and aims to boost the sector's GDP contribution by 2031. LIFEPharma's initiative will reduce reliance on imported medicines and bring advanced treatments closer to home, benefiting families with conditions like thalassemia and sickle cell disease.
## Financial Backing
LIFEPharma has secured a strategic financing agreement with Ajman Bank to support the project's development, further strengthening the UAE's position in the global pharmaceutical industry.
