Medcare launches its second hospital in Sharjah, expanding tertiary quaternary care

## New Hospital Launch

Medcare has inaugurated its second hospital in Sharjah, strategically located on Shaikh Saqr Al Qasimi Street. This new facility is designed to address the growing healthcare needs of Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, offering a 90-bed capacity.

## Expanding Healthcare Access

The hospital aims to meet the increasing demand for tertiary care, driven by population growth and recent healthcare policy changes, such as mandatory health insurance. This expansion reflects Medcare's commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services locally.

## Strategic Vision

Alisha Moopen, Managing Director & Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, highlighted the strategic importance of this expansion. The new hospital is part of Medcare's broader strategy to enhance healthcare infrastructure and ensure residents have access to comprehensive medical services without needing to travel outside the region.

## Advanced Medical Services

Medcare Hospital Sharjah offers a wide range of services across 29 specialties, including emergency care, intensive care units, and advanced imaging technologies. The facility integrates AI technologies in cardiology and breast imaging, and plans to introduce robotic surgical technologies by the end of 2026.

## Future Plans

Dr. Shanila Laiju, Group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, mentioned that Medcare's expansion includes both primary and tertiary healthcare. The group has opened 11 new medical centers since 2024, with plans to further expand into quaternary care services and launch a new hospital in Dubai within the next two years.
