## New Loan Program for E-Mobility
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in the Philippines has introduced the "Ginhawa Bike and E-Mobility Loan" (GBEL) program. This initiative allows eligible members to borrow up to ₱300,000 to purchase electric bikes and other eco-friendly mobility devices. The program aims to alleviate the financial burden of high fuel costs by offering an affordable alternative for transportation.
## Loan Details
Qualified members can finance up to 100% of the cost of an electric mobility unit. The loan comes with a 5% annual interest rate and a repayment term of up to three years. This makes it a practical option for government employees seeking to reduce their daily transportation expenses.
## Eligible Devices
The loan covers a variety of electric-powered mobility options, including e-bikes, e-scooters, e-mopeds, cargo e-bikes, and folding electric bicycles. GSIS President Jose Arnulfo Veloso emphasized the program's focus on providing financial relief and enhancing mobility for members.
## Additional Initiatives
In addition to the e-mobility loan, GSIS has launched the Ginhawa Solar Energy Loan (GSEL) program. This initiative supports the installation of residential solar systems, offering loans up to ₱500,000 with a 5% interest rate and a five-year repayment period. The solar loan also includes three years of free insurance for the panels against natural disasters.
## Regulatory Updates
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) clarified that there is no ban on e-bikes and e-trikes on city roads, although registration is required for electric vehicles on public highways. This ensures that only qualified vehicles and drivers are permitted on the roads, enhancing safety and compliance.
