## Event Overview
The "Make it in the Emirates" summit has commenced in Abu Dhabi, focusing on enhancing local manufacturing and the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The event, running from May 4 to 7, is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology alongside the ADNEC Group.
## Focus on Local Production
This year's summit emphasizes the localization of over 4,800 products, aiming to reduce reliance on imports. Key sectors include food, pharmaceuticals, and advanced technology. The initiative seeks to bolster the UAE's industrial base and ensure a stable supply of essential goods.
## SME Participation
SMEs make up 60% of the 1,162 exhibitors, providing them with opportunities to connect with buyers, financiers, and larger industrial entities. The event supports SMEs by offering access to procurement opportunities and financial incentives.
## UAE-Made Goods Expansion
A significant shift is the increased presence of UAE-made products in retail and online platforms. The focus is on essential goods with scalable production potential, such as dairy and bakery items. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance the visibility of national products.
## Technological Integration
Artificial intelligence is playing a larger role this year, with initiatives linking AI to production and supply chain resilience. The newly formed National Industrial Data Committee will focus on strategic data collection to aid decision-making.
## Cultural Integration
The Ministry of Culture is participating by showcasing Emirati craftsmanship, linking traditional arts with modern industrial practices. This includes a pavilion featuring crafts by over 200 artisans and various creative projects.
## Key Highlights
The summit includes a keynote by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber and discussions on strategic partnerships and industrial growth. The event aims to convert policy initiatives into tangible outcomes like contracts and supplier agreements.
