## Increased Capacity for Pilgrims
Saudi Arabia has significantly boosted the capacity of its Haramain high-speed rail service to accommodate Hajj pilgrims. The rail line now offers over 2.21 million seats for the pilgrimage season, facilitating travel across key locations including Mecca, Jeddah, and Medina.
## Extensive Rail Network
The Haramain rail network spans 453 kilometers and is serviced by a fleet of 35 electric trains. Each train can carry up to 417 passengers, and the network is expected to handle more than 5,300 trips during the Hajj period. Trains can reach speeds of up to 300 km/h, ensuring swift and efficient transport for pilgrims.
## Strategic Importance
This expansion is part of Saudi Arabia's broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and improve the pilgrimage experience. The high-speed rail line is a critical component in managing the large influx of visitors during Hajj, providing a reliable and high-capacity transportation solution.
