## Flame Tree Initiative
Dubai is set to undergo a vibrant transformation this summer with a new initiative led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Crown Prince has directed the planting of flame trees across the city, aiming to enhance urban sustainability and beautify public spaces.
## City-Wide Planting
The Dubai Municipality has begun implementing this directive, planting flame trees in streets, parks, residential areas, and key intersections. This initiative is part of a broader effort to increase green cover and improve the city's livability.
## Characteristics of the Flame Tree
Known scientifically as Delonix regia, the flame tree is renowned for its striking orange-red flowers. It thrives in Dubai's climate, requiring ample sunlight and minimal water, making it ideal for the city's hot summers. The tree can grow up to 12 meters tall and spread 15 meters wide, providing significant shade.
## Long-Term Vision
With more than 50,000 flame trees already planted, this initiative reflects Dubai's long-term commitment to greening the city. The trees are expected to live for 40 to 60 years, offering shade and beauty for future generations.
