## Royal Decree Establishes AI Zone

Oman has initiated a new Artificial Intelligence Special Zone in Muscat following a royal decree by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The decree, numbered 50/2026, was reported by the Oman News Agency and is now in effect.

## Management and Development

The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones is tasked with appointing a management team for the AI zone. This will be done in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.

## Incentives and Privileges

Projects within this zone will benefit from incentives and exemptions as outlined in a previous decree, 38/2025, which pertains to the Law of Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. These benefits aim to attract investment and innovation in AI technologies.

## Implementation

The decree has been published in the Official Gazette and is effective immediately, marking a significant step in Oman's technological advancement and economic diversification efforts.
