## Commitment to Workers' Welfare

The United Arab Emirates is celebrating International Workers’ Day on May 1, highlighting its dedication to improving workers' rights and living conditions. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) is spearheading various events and initiatives to honor workers across the nation.

## Business and Compliance Improvements

Recent data indicates robust business activity, with 2.3 million transactions processed in March 2026 alone. The first quarter saw around 7 million transactions, showcasing stable operations. Compliance has improved significantly, with a 62% drop in violations related to fake Emiratisation and a 30% decrease in non-compliance with worker accommodation standards.

## Labour Market Growth

In 2025, the private sector workforce grew by 12.4%, and the number of establishments increased by 7.8%. Compliance in the labor market rose by 34% compared to 2024, reflecting the UAE's effective regulatory frameworks.

## Wage Protection and Insurance

The Wage Protection System now covers 99% of private sector workers, and 90% are enrolled in the Unemployment Insurance Scheme. Since its inception in 2024, over Dh350 million has been paid to workers who lost their jobs.

## Worker Accommodation and Safety

More than 2,700 companies have registered in the worker housing system, benefiting 1.9 million workers. The UAE continues to enhance occupational health and safety, including a midday work ban during summer months and establishing rest stations for delivery workers.

## Enforcement and Stability

Despite regional challenges, the UAE labor market remains stable. In 2025, about 2,600 criminal cases related to labor violations were referred to prosecution, underscoring the country's commitment to enforcing labor laws and protecting workers' rights.
