Worker housing in UAE: MOHRE mandates free internet, 24-hour clinics and recreational areas

## Enhanced Living Conditions for Workers

The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has implemented new regulations to improve worker accommodations. These rules require employers to provide free internet access and enhanced health facilities, aiming to elevate living standards for laborers.

## Comprehensive Health and Welfare Facilities

Employers must ensure that accommodations for 1,000 or more workers include 24-hour medical clinics, recreational spaces, and financial service facilities. Additionally, accommodations should be located near industrial zones and transport networks, while maintaining a safe distance from family residential areas and environmental hazards.

## Safety and Emergency Preparedness

The regulations mandate proper lighting, sanitation, and food preparation facilities, along with access to clean drinking water. Employers are also required to implement pest control measures and ensure safe gas installations. Larger accommodations must have on-site doctors, nurses, and ambulances, as well as first aid rooms and isolation areas.

## Multilingual Guidance and Emergency Protocols

Accommodation managers must provide written guidance in multiple languages, detailing workers' rights and responsibilities, health and safety instructions, and contact information for government authorities. Emergency signage, evacuation plans, and fire prevention procedures are also required, with regular drills to ensure preparedness.

These measures are part of a broader initiative to enhance worker protection and quality of life across the UAE.
