## New Agreement to Boost Biosecurity

The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) and the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance biosecurity cooperation. This agreement was formalized during the Emirates Agriculture Conference and Exhibition 2026.

The collaboration aims to improve diagnostic systems, data sharing, and inspection processes in the food and agriculture sectors. Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Under-Secretary of MOCCAE, emphasized the importance of this partnership in strengthening national biosecurity efforts and supporting food safety.

## Strategic Commitment to Laboratory Testing

Fahad Ghareeb Al Shamsi, Acting Secretary-General of ADQCC, highlighted the strategic commitment to enhance laboratory testing capabilities. The agreement includes laboratory analysis of water, food, animal feed, plants, and livestock, aligning with approved technical standards.

## Enhancing National Expertise

The MoU also focuses on developing national expertise, improving quality assurance, and accelerating testing processes using advanced technologies. It establishes a regulatory framework to improve diagnostic testing across veterinary, agricultural, and food sectors.

Key areas of the agreement include enhancing laboratory efficiency, developing technical standards, and strengthening inspection and emergency response systems.
