China's installed power generation capacity climbs 15.5% by end March 2026

## Surge in Power Capacity

By the end of March 2026, China's installed power generation capacity reached 3.96 billion kilowatts, marking a 15.5% increase compared to the previous year. This growth was reported by the National Energy Administration.

## Renewable Energy Growth

Solar energy saw a significant expansion, with its capacity increasing by 31.3% to 1.24 billion kilowatts. Wind power also experienced substantial growth, rising by 22.4% to 660 million kilowatts.

## Utilization Hours Decline

Despite the increase in capacity, the average utilization hours of power generation equipment decreased to 703 hours in the first quarter, which is 66 hours less than the same period last year.
