## Turtle Release and Tracking Initiative

The Fujairah Environment Authority (FEA), in collaboration with the Fujairah Research Centre, has released several rehabilitated green sea turtles back into the wild. These turtles, rescued by the Joint Marine Biodiversity Team, were treated at the Fujairah Research Centre before being released at Naäma Beach Villas & Spa.

## Research and Conservation Efforts

This initiative is part of a research project funded by Atlantis The Palm Group, aimed at studying turtle migration and behavior. Tracking devices have been attached to the turtles to monitor their movements and nesting sites. The data collected will aid in developing conservation strategies and enhancing understanding of marine species.

## Broader Environmental Strategy

The project supports Fujairah's environmental strategy, focusing on marine conservation and habitat restoration. Efforts include coral reef cultivation, with support from international organizations and community volunteers, to maintain ecological balance and protect marine biodiversity.

## Rare Nesting Activity

Among the seven sea turtle species globally, five are found in UAE waters. The hawksbill turtle is known to nest annually on the western coast, while only three nesting cases have been recorded on the eastern coast, none in Fujairah.

## Public Involvement

The FEA encourages the public to report any stranded or injured turtles through their toll-free numbers, ensuring quick response and rescue operations by specialist teams.
