## Introduction of New Toll Gates
Abu Dhabi is set to introduce two new toll gates as part of the Darb Toll Gate System, aiming to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) announced that these gates will be operational from May 4, 2026.
## Locations and Operation
The new toll gates are located on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Street in Ghantoot and on Wahat Al Karama Street at the entrance and exit of Sheikh Zayed Street. These gates will function continuously, 24/7.
## Toll Fees and Exemptions
A fee of Dh4 will be charged per crossing. However, exemptions apply for certain groups, including senior citizens, People of Determination, low-income citizens, and retired citizens.
## Alternative Routes
For those looking to avoid the tolls, alternative routes are available. Motorists can use Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street or Arabian Gulf Street instead of the Al Qurm Toll Gate, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Street as an alternative to the Ghantoot Toll Gate.
## Traffic Management Goals
The ITC emphasizes that these additions are part of a broader strategy to enhance Abu Dhabi’s road network, keeping pace with urban growth and traffic demands. Regular evaluations will be conducted to ensure the system meets its traffic management objectives.
