## Fuel Surcharge Increase

The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has announced a significant rise in fuel surcharges for both domestic and international flights. This adjustment, effective from April 16 to 30, has moved the surcharge to level 19, close to the maximum allowable level.

## Impact on Ticket Prices

Domestic flight passengers will now face fuel surcharges ranging from ₱627 to ₱1,834, a substantial increase from the previous ₱253 to ₱787. For international flights, the surcharge now spans ₱2,070.77 to ₱15,397.15, up from ₱835.05 to ₱6,208.98.

## Maximum Surcharge Levels

The highest surcharge level permitted is level 20, where domestic charges could rise to between ₱661 and ₱1,993, and international surcharges could reach ₱2,183.11 to ₱16,232.44.

## Reasons for the Increase

The CAB cites volatile global fuel prices as the main driver behind this surcharge hike. Airlines are allowed to impose these charges under CAB resolution no. 25, series of 2022, unless jet fuel prices fall below ₱21 per litre.

## Future Outlook

Travelers should anticipate higher airfare costs in the near future and plan accordingly. The interim measure will remain until the situation stabilizes or further changes are made by the CAB.
