## High Demand and Fuel Costs Drive Up Airfares
Travelers planning to fly during Eid Al Adha from the UAE are advised to book their flights early due to a combination of high demand, limited flight availability, and rising fuel costs. The holiday, expected between May 27 and May 29, is causing a surge in ticket prices.
## Price Increases Across Popular Routes
Airfares for travel between May 26 and May 31 have significantly increased. Flights from Dubai to Mumbai are priced around Dh2,000, while tickets to Bengaluru and New Delhi are approximately Dh2,360 and Dh2,110, respectively. Routes to Kerala range from Dh2,940 to Dh3,300, and fares to Mangalore have reached Dh4,080. Within the GCC, prices remain more affordable, with Riyadh at Dh875 and Bahrain and Muscat at Dh1,100.
## Long-Haul Flights Also Affected
Long-distance flights are also experiencing price hikes. Tickets to London cost about Dh3,840, Edinburgh Dh4,040, and Zurich Dh3,760. Milan is priced at Dh2,390, Istanbul at Dh2,610, and Athens at Dh3,730. Flights to Almaty and Tbilisi are around Dh2,330, while New York fares are nearing Dh4,760.
## Fuel Crisis and Geopolitical Tensions
The increase in fares is partly due to a global energy crisis and geopolitical tensions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, which have led to volatile oil markets and expensive jet fuel. Airlines are gradually restoring services, but capacity remains below pre-conflict levels, contributing to the high prices.
## Advice for Travelers
Travel agents emphasize the importance of booking early to avoid higher costs as Eid approaches. With airlines slowly increasing capacity, particularly to leisure destinations, travelers should act quickly to secure more affordable tickets.
