Saudi Arabia: All visit visas barred from Hajj access

## New Hajj Regulations

Saudi Arabia has implemented stringent measures for the upcoming Hajj season, restricting access to Mecca and other holy sites exclusively to individuals with official Hajj permits. This decision is part of efforts to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims during the pilgrimage period, which spans from the start of Dhu Al Qi’dah to the 14th of Dhu Al Hijjah.

## Penalties for Violations

Authorities have announced that anyone attempting to perform Hajj or enter the holy sites without a permit will face significant penalties. Visit visa holders found in violation could be fined up to 20,000 Saudi riyals. Additionally, residents and overstayers performing Hajj without authorization risk deportation and a 10-year re-entry ban.

## Umrah Permit Suspension

In conjunction with these measures, Saudi Arabia has also suspended the issuance of Umrah permits through the Nusuk platform for all categories, including citizens and GCC nationals, during the Hajj period. This move is intended to streamline the pilgrimage process and maintain order.

## Enforcement and Compliance

The Ministry of Interior emphasizes the importance of compliance with these regulations, urging the public to report any violations. Emergency numbers have been provided for different regions to facilitate this process. The campaign, under the slogan "No Hajj without a permit," aims to enhance the overall experience for pilgrims by ensuring smooth operations and effective crowd management.
