## Strait of Hormuz Reopens
The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for global oil trade, has reopened under strict controls. Iran announced the reopening, but vessel movement remains tightly regulated. Tehran oversees transit routes, allowing passage only through specific corridors.
## US Blockade and Ship Movements
Despite the reopening, maritime traffic is limited. Since the US initiated a blockade on April 13, 21 ships have returned to Iran. The blockade aims to restrict Iranian port access in the Gulf and Gulf of Oman.
## US-Iran Tensions
The US maintains its blockade, with former President Donald Trump stating it will continue until broader agreements, including on Iran's nuclear program, are reached. Trump warned of potential military action if negotiations falter, with the current ceasefire set to expire on April 22.
## Iran's Response
Iran has threatened to close the strait again if US pressure persists. Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf emphasized that the waterway "will not remain open" under continued US restrictions.
## Diplomatic Efforts
US and Iranian officials are expected to meet in Pakistan for talks, though these meetings are not confirmed by Washington. Meanwhile, a separate ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon is mostly holding, despite minor violations.
## Impact on Global Markets
The situation in the Strait of Hormuz continues to affect global energy markets. Any escalation could disrupt oil flows and maritime stability worldwide.
