## Historic Investment in Immunisation
Lower-income countries are set to invest a record $302 million in immunisation programs for 2025, according to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. This marks the highest annual investment by these nations in Gavi-supported vaccine initiatives.
## Growing National Ownership
The increased funding reflects a significant shift towards greater national ownership of immunisation financing. Over the past five years, these countries have contributed $1.1 billion, matching the total from the previous thirteen years. This trend is supported by Gavi's co-financing model, which encourages countries to gradually take on more financial responsibility.
## Commitment Amid Challenges
Despite economic pressures and humanitarian crises, all Gavi-eligible countries, except those facing severe emergencies, met their 2025 co-financing obligations. Only six out of 16 countries affected by conflict required waivers, highlighting strong governmental commitment to immunisation.
## Long-Term Impact
Since 2000, Gavi's efforts have helped protect over 1.1 billion children, significantly reducing childhood mortality. Every dollar spent on immunisation yields $54 in socioeconomic benefits, with Gavi-supported programs generating over $100 billion for participating countries. Emergency vaccinations have also reduced disease cases and deaths by 60% on average.
