## Severe Impact on US Pacific Territories
Super Typhoon Sinlaku has caused significant damage in the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam, flipping cars, toppling utility poles, and tearing off roofs. Despite the destruction, no fatalities have been reported.
## Power and Water Outages
The storm, which struck Tuesday night, left many areas without power and made roads impassable, particularly in Saipan, the largest island in the Marianas with a population of about 43,000. Water outages were also reported, prompting the Federal Emergency Management Agency to increase personnel and supply shipments to the affected areas.
## Strongest Cyclone of the Year
With sustained winds reaching up to 150 mph (240 kph), Sinlaku is the strongest tropical cyclone on Earth this year. By late Wednesday, winds had decreased slightly to 125 mph (200 kph) as the storm moved northward.
## Ongoing Recovery Efforts
Local officials are assessing the damage, which includes flooding, uprooted trees, and downed power lines. The American Red Cross is providing shelter for over 1,000 residents across the affected regions. Images from Saipan reveal widespread debris and damaged infrastructure, including crumbled bleachers and cars stacked on top of each other.
