## Second Attempt at Hormuz
A supertanker named Agios Fanourios I made a second attempt to navigate the Strait of Hormuz on April 15, aiming to reach Iraq. This move comes amid heightened tensions as the US enforces a naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman, impacting Iranian oil exports.
## US-Iran Tensions
The US blockade, initiated on April 13, aims to restrict Iranian oil shipments. The Agios Fanourios I, flagged under Malta, is the first crude carrier attempting to pass westward through Hormuz since the blockade began. The vessel is reportedly heading to Basrah, Iraq, and plans to load crude for a Vietnamese refinery.
## Iran's Response
Iran has threatened to disrupt Red Sea shipping if the US does not lift the blockade. This warning raises concerns about the stability of the existing ceasefire between the two nations. Despite the blockade, Iranian oil continues to move through indirect routes, with tankers gathering offshore Malaysia for ship-to-ship transfers.
## Current Situation
As of now, US Central Command reports that no ships have successfully breached the blockade, with several vessels turning back to Iranian ports. Meanwhile, Iran's military has signaled potential actions in the Red Sea, further complicating the situation. Talks between the US and Iran, facilitated by Pakistan, are ongoing but have yet to yield significant progress.
