## New Railway to Enhance Trade

The UAE and Jordan have signed a significant $2.3 billion agreement to construct a 360-kilometre railway. This new line will connect Jordan's mining areas to the Port of Aqaba, aiming to transport 16 million tonnes of phosphate and potash annually.

## Strategic Partnership

The deal was formalized in the presence of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Jordan's Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan. It involves the creation of the UAE–Jordan Railway Company, responsible for the project's construction, operations, and maintenance.

## Economic Impact

The railway is expected to reduce logistics costs and transport times, boosting Jordan's export capabilities. It will connect Al-Shidiya and Ghor Al-Safi to Aqaba, enhancing Jordan's role in global trade and creating numerous jobs.

## Broader Cooperation

This project builds on a previous $5.5 billion investment framework from 2023, highlighting ongoing economic collaboration between the two nations. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve regional connectivity and economic integration.

## Regional Benefits

The railway is anticipated to strengthen Jordan's position in global supply chains and support the UAE's infrastructure development goals. It reflects the strong bilateral ties and shared focus on sustainable growth and regional stability.
