## Vision for Khorfakkan

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, has announced plans to transform Khorfakkan into a city surrounded by forests. This initiative aims to enhance the city's environment by increasing oxygen levels and reducing carbon dioxide, providing residents with a more tranquil and comfortable living space.

## Flower Planting Insights

During a broadcast on the Direct Line programme, Sheikh Sultan shared insights on flower planting. He emphasized the importance of selecting the right soil, preferably pure clay from mountain slopes, and using canopies to provide partial shade for flowers. He also advised on the timing of pruning, recommending it be done before March to ensure healthy growth.

## The Qasd Tree

Sheikh Sultan reminisced about the Qasd tree, a resilient species known for its thorny branches and edible fruits. He recounted efforts to revive this tree, which was once abundant in the Al Madam area, by using growth hormones to successfully cultivate it in the Al Badi Palace nursery.

## Greening Khorfakkan

The Ruler of Sharjah detailed ongoing efforts to plant trees in Khorfakkan's mountainous regions. Specialized companies are creating pits to capture water from mountain valleys, which will be used to irrigate newly planted trees. This project is part of a broader vision to envelop the city in lush greenery, enhancing the local environment and quality of life.
