Hormuz Strait blockade: Iran-linked ships cross despite US enforcement, some turn back

## Ships Defy US Blockade

Despite a US military blockade, at least three vessels linked to Iran managed to navigate the Strait of Hormuz. However, some ships later reversed course, according to maritime tracking data.

## Maritime Tracking Challenges

The blockade, which began at 1400 GMT on Monday, saw seven Iran-associated ships attempt to pass through the strait. Maritime analysts have noted disruptions in ship signals, complicating tracking efforts.

## Specific Ship Movements

The Liberia-flagged Christianna crossed the strait after unloading corn in Iran, while the Comoros-flagged tanker Elpis, carrying methanol, also cleared the strait. Both ships' movements were tracked by Kpler.

## US Blockade Enforcement

The US military confirmed its blockade was effective, preventing six vessels from leaving Iranian ports. CENTCOM reported that these ships complied with US directives to return to Iranian ports.

## Chinese Tanker and Other Vessels

A Chinese tanker, Rich Starry, initially crossed the strait but turned back in the Gulf of Oman. Other vessels included the bulk carrier Manali and two Iran-flagged ships, Kashan and Moshtari, which also navigated the strait.
