Big Nafis changes: Unlimited child support, new salary perks for Emiratis

## Unlimited Child Support

The Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council has announced significant updates to the Nafis Program, extending it through 2040. A key change is the removal of the cap on the Child Allowance Scheme, allowing Emirati families in the private sector to receive financial support for an unlimited number of children. This aims to enhance family stability and quality of life.

## New Salary Support

The program introduces a Salary Support Scheme for wives of Emirati men in the private sector, offering up to Dh3,000 monthly. Eligibility requires a salary between Dh6,000 and Dh15,000, a bachelor's degree, and specific family conditions. A similar scheme is available for children of Emirati mothers, with a salary range of Dh6,000 to Dh20,000.

## Standardized Salary Threshold

To ensure financial stability, the minimum salary threshold for all Nafis support schemes is set at Dh6,000 per month. Bachelor’s degree holders can receive up to Dh6,000 monthly, diploma holders up to Dh5,000, and high school graduates up to Dh4,000. The new policies will be phased in starting September 2026.

## Pension Contributions

From September 2026, employers will be responsible for their share of pension contributions under the Nafis "Subscription" scheme, promoting private sector accountability.

## Program Impact

Since its launch in 2021, Nafis has supported over 176,000 Emiratis, with more than 152,000 currently employed in the private sector. The program has also facilitated specialized training and employment initiatives, contributing to workforce readiness and national talent competitiveness.
