Dubai driver fined Dh10,000 and banned for drug-impaired wrong-way driving in Al Khawaneej

## Incident Overview

A 23-year-old Gulf national has been fined Dh10,000 and had his driving license suspended for three months in Dubai. The penalties were imposed after he was found driving under the influence of drugs and going against traffic in Al Khawaneej.

## Details of the Case

The incident came to light when police noticed a vehicle traveling the wrong way near a hospital. Upon stopping the car, officers observed the driver in an abnormal state. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed syringes, capsules of psychotropic substances, and traces of methamphetamine.

## Legal Proceedings

The driver admitted to drug use and possession during questioning. Although he acknowledged consuming drugs, he denied other charges in court, seeking leniency due to his age. The court, however, treated the offenses as interconnected and showed some clemency.

## Court Ruling

In addition to the fine and license suspension, the court ordered the confiscation of the drugs found. The driver has already paid the fine and was previously detained before being released for periodic testing and rehabilitation.
