Dubai court orders man to pay Dh968,000 for destroying and stealing from sister’s farm

## Court Ruling

A Dubai civil court has ordered an Arab man to compensate his sister Dh968,000 after he was found guilty of damaging and stealing from her inherited farm. This ruling follows a criminal conviction where he was sentenced to one month in prison and fined for the stolen items.

## Incident Details

The man, who previously managed the farm before it was legally transferred to his sister, stole items including nine aluminium doors, 26 air-conditioning units, and 20 palm trees, valued at Dh178,000. Additionally, he damaged irrigation systems and destroyed 140 palm trees, resulting in losses of Dh770,000.

## Legal Proceedings

The sister reported the incident, prompting a police investigation and subsequent referral to Dubai Public Prosecution. The criminal case concluded with a conviction upheld by the Court of Cassation, confirming the man's responsibility.

## Compensation Awarded

The civil court awarded Dh948,000 for material damages and Dh20,000 for emotional distress. The court emphasized that the criminal judgment provided conclusive proof of the man's liability. The ruling includes a 5% legal interest on the total amount from the date the ruling becomes final until full payment, along with legal fees and expenses.
