## US Blockade Begins
The United States has initiated a blockade of Iranian ports, effective from 10:00 ET on Monday, as tensions rise despite a temporary ceasefire. This move comes after unsuccessful negotiations in Islamabad over the weekend. The blockade targets all Iranian Gulf ports and coastal areas, although vessels not linked to Iran can still transit the Strait of Hormuz.
## Trump's Warning
US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that any Iranian ships approaching the blockade will be "immediately eliminated." This follows his claim that the US Navy has already destroyed a significant portion of Iran's naval fleet.
## Iran's Response
Iran has threatened retaliation against any military vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global oil shipments. The situation remains tense as both nations navigate the fragile ceasefire.
## Global Reactions
The international community is closely monitoring the situation. The UN maritime chief has reiterated that no country has the right to block shipping in the Strait of Hormuz under international law. Meanwhile, oil prices have surged due to fears of supply disruptions, with West Texas Intermediate crude reaching $104.8 a barrel.
## Diplomatic Efforts
Efforts to resolve the conflict continue, with Pakistan's Prime Minister stating that the ceasefire is "holding" and negotiations are ongoing. Additionally, Spain has reopened its embassy in Tehran, signaling a commitment to support peace in the region.
