## Strengthened Oversight and Standards
The Department of Health (DoH) in Abu Dhabi has announced significant reforms following its 2025 inspection and audit results. The initiative aims to enhance healthcare quality and patient safety through stricter oversight and updated standards.
## Increased Compliance Audits
In 2025, the DoH conducted 4,540 licensing audits, marking a 31% increase in compliance checks compared to the previous year. This expansion covers all home healthcare providers, reflecting a broader regulatory scope to identify areas for improvement and bolster patient-centered care.
## Targeted Inspection Campaigns
The department launched focused inspections on medication safety, laboratory operations, and Emiratisation in healthcare. While most facilities adhered to standards, some smaller labs and institutions were identified for improvement, with corrective actions already in progress.
## Community Engagement and Feedback
The DoH recorded 1,831 customer relationship management cases, achieving a 98% closure rate. The "Voice of the Community" initiative further strengthened engagement, allowing residents to provide feedback that informs regulatory improvements.
## Facility Closures and Corrective Actions
Authorities issued 223 corrective actions to enhance compliance and safety standards, resulting in the closure of seven healthcare facilities. This underscores the commitment to maintaining high-quality care through rigorous enforcement.
## Focus on Quality and Resilience
Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi emphasized the evolving healthcare model's focus on monitoring, transparency, and shared accountability. Continuous improvement and collaboration between regulators and providers remain central to the sector's approach.
## Future-Ready Frameworks
The DoH updated regulatory frameworks, including a new Medical Waste Management Standard, to ensure safety and sustainability. Officials stressed the importance of ongoing compliance and community participation in building a resilient healthcare system.
