Makkah entry restricted: Saudi Arabia bans expatriates without permit from April 13

## New Entry Rules for Makkah

Starting April 13, Saudi Arabia has implemented new regulations requiring expatriates and residents to have official permits to enter Makkah. This measure is part of the preparations for the upcoming Hajj season.

## Permit System Details

The Saudi Press Agency reported that the Public Security department confirmed the necessity of permits for entry into Makkah. Individuals without a work permit for the Holy Sites, a Makkah-issued residency ID, or a Hajj permit will be denied entry.

## Umrah and Visa Restrictions

April 18 marks the deadline for foreign pilgrims on Umrah visas to leave Saudi Arabia. From this date until May 31, the issuance of Umrah permits will be paused for all, including citizens and GCC nationals. Only those with valid Hajj visas will be allowed entry into Makkah.

## Digital Permit System

Permits for workers during the Hajj season are available electronically through platforms like Absher Individuals and Muqeem Portal, which are integrated with the Tasreeh platform for Hajj permits.

## Compliance and Penalties

Authorities emphasize the importance of adhering to these regulations to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the pilgrimage. Violations of these rules may result in penalties.
