Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure launches innovative microgrid project for federal government buildings

## Innovative Energy Initiative

The UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has introduced a groundbreaking microgrid project aimed at federal government buildings. This initiative is part of the country's strategy to create a smart, resilient, and adaptive energy ecosystem.

## Project Details

The project, first implemented in 2025 at the Ministry's Sharjah headquarters, integrates clean energy generation, storage, and advanced digital management. It aims to enhance energy security, sustainability, and efficiency, aligning with the 'We the UAE 2031' vision.

## Pilot Phase Success

During its pilot phase, the project achieved significant results, including a reduction in annual energy consumption by approximately 362,000 kilowatt-hours and financial savings of nearly Dh110,000. It also cut carbon emissions by 76 tons annually and increased solar energy's contribution to 30% of the total electrical load.

## Future Plans

The Ministry plans to expand this model across the UAE, working with government and private sector partners. The next phase will focus on scaling the initiative and developing a national guide for microgrid deployment, enhancing infrastructure efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint.
