## National Initiative for Surgeons
The UAE has introduced its first national program aimed at training surgeons in emergency and disaster management. This initiative, launched by the UAE National Program for Readiness and Response, known as Jahiziyah, is designed to enhance the country's healthcare preparedness.
## Program Structure
The training spans four weeks and includes foundational courses on emergency concepts, advanced surgical management in resource-limited settings, leadership decision-making, and practical simulations. The program is set to run across several emirates, including Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Dubai.
## Global Collaboration
The program builds on a successful initial phase that involved collaboration with international healthcare institutions and experts from countries like Canada, Europe, and Australia. It aims to integrate global best practices into the UAE's healthcare system.
## Broader Emergency Response Efforts
In addition to the surgeon training, the UAE has launched the National Emergency Response Forum "Istijabah," aiming to train 20,000 first responders. This initiative focuses on a unified approach to emergency response, involving personnel from various sectors such as healthcare, security, and critical infrastructure.
## Strategic Importance
With an annual budget exceeding Dh100 million, these programs underscore the UAE's commitment to developing national talent and enhancing emergency readiness. The initiatives are part of a broader strategy to transform challenges into opportunities, aligning with international standards and reinforcing the UAE's leadership in healthcare preparedness.
