## Project Overview Dubai Municipality has successfully finished the initial phase of a significant sewerage and stormwater network project in Al Quoz Creative Zone. This phase, costing Dh250 million, is part of a larger Dh500 million investment aimed at enhancing infrastructure in one of Dubai's most economically active areas.
## Infrastructure Details The project covers 1,600 hectares between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, impacting over 1,507 plots. Phase one included the construction of sewerage and stormwater drainage systems across 155 hectares and 123 plots. The sewerage network extends 15 kilometers with pipe diameters ranging from 160 mm to 1,600 mm, while the stormwater drainage network spans 14 kilometers with pipe diameters from 200 mm to 3,000 mm.
## Strategic Importance This initiative is part of Dubai's broader Sewerage System Development Programme, which aims to create a sustainable and efficient infrastructure network. It aligns with the Tasreef programme, a Dh30 billion stormwater drainage initiative designed to significantly boost drainage capacity for the next century.
## Leadership Insights Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, emphasized the project's role in supporting Dubai's urban growth and enhancing its global standing in sustainable urban planning. Adel Mohammed Al Marzouqi, CEO of the Waste and Sewerage Agency, highlighted the project's contribution to improving rainwater drainage and ensuring operational continuity in the Al Quoz Creative Zone.
## Future Outlook Dubai Municipality continues to implement transformative projects to bolster the emirate's resilience against environmental challenges, ensuring service continuity and supporting Dubai's transition to a smart, sustainable city model.
