## Police Warning on Remote Apps
Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning to residents about the risks associated with downloading remote control applications on their devices. These apps, while useful for legitimate purposes like technical support and remote work, are being exploited by scammers to access personal data and commit financial fraud.
## Scammers' Tactics
Fraudsters often impersonate technical support staff or service providers, convincing individuals to install these apps under the guise of resolving technical issues. Once installed, scammers can remotely access the victim's device, allowing them to view sensitive information and potentially empty bank accounts.
## Safety Recommendations
Authorities advise the public to be cautious of unsolicited calls requesting the installation of software or the sharing of personal information. They emphasize that banks and financial institutions will never ask for account details, passwords, or PINs over the phone.
## Preventive Measures
Residents are encouraged to download applications only from trusted sources and to keep their devices updated with security software. The police also urge the public to report any suspicious activities through the "Aman" service by calling 8002626 or sending a text to 2828.
## Ongoing Campaigns
This warning is part of the "Stay Alert" campaign aimed at protecting residents from cyber threats. The police continue to highlight the importance of safeguarding personal and financial information to prevent fraud.
