Ajman opens Masfout Gate to boost mountain tourism appeal

## New Gateway to Masfout

Ajman has introduced the Masfout Gate, a new landmark aimed at enhancing the region's appeal as a tourist and cultural destination. This initiative is part of the UAE's broader strategy to develop rural areas, led by the Emirates Council for Balanced Development in collaboration with Ajman's Municipality and Planning Department.

## Architectural and Cultural Significance

The Masfout Gate, inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, stands 16 meters tall and covers 500 square meters. It features a 40-meter walkway designed to serve as a welcoming entrance to the Masfout area, which was recognized as the World’s Best Tourism Village in 2025 by UN Tourism.

## Attractions and Activities

Located in the Hajar Mountains, about 90 minutes from Ajman city, Masfout offers a cooler climate and rugged landscapes. It is popular for hiking, mountain biking, and exploring its fertile lands and pottery markets. Historical sites like the 19th-century Masfout Castle add to its charm.

## Future Developments

The new gateway is expected to enhance Masfout’s status in UAE tourism, supporting future hospitality and infrastructure projects. This aligns with national efforts to integrate rural and mountain areas into the country's tourism and economic growth strategies.

## Blending Heritage with Modernity

The project combines traditional design with modern architecture, reflecting a commitment to preserving cultural identity while promoting development. Sheikh Humaid emphasized the importance of this initiative in linking the past with future aspirations, aiming to improve quality of life and create a harmonious environment.
