## Significant Urban Expansion

In 2025, Abu Dhabi's urban development saw a major boost with the approval of nearly 75 million square meters of new projects. This expansion is equivalent to developing seven times the area of Yas Island, showcasing the emirate's rapid growth in construction.

## Residential Sector Leads

The residential sector dominated the approved developments, with plans for around 190,000 housing units. Of these, over 158,000 units aim to increase market supply, while nearly 30,000 are designated for UAE nationals. These projects are complemented by community facilities such as schools and healthcare centers.

## Industrial and Technological Growth

Key developments in the industrial and technology sectors include specialized zones and data centers, supporting the digital economy and logistics. The hospitality sector also saw approvals for projects adding approximately 5,000 hotel rooms and new tourist attractions.

## Streamlined Approval Processes

Efforts to expedite project approvals included reducing the time for major developers by 60 days. The introduction of the "Benaa" digital platform in 2024 further streamlined processes, cutting the time for residential villa permits by 57%.

## Increased Building Permits

Over 11,000 building permits were issued in 2025, marking a 15% increase from the previous year. The Department of Municipalities and Transport also conducted workshops for contractors and consultants to align with new regulations and market needs.
