Shipping companies have been forced to reroute vessels, opting for longer and more costly journeys around the Cape of Good Hope due to security concerns in the Red Sea.

These disruptions have created logistical challenges, especially for regions reliant on imported goods. While alternative transport methods like trucks and rail are being utilized, they cannot match the capacity of large container ships. As a result, some exports, particularly petrochemicals, may face delays.
