## Free Communication Initiative
Filipinos working in the Middle East can now make free calls to their families in the Philippines. This initiative, known as "Libreng Tawag," has been launched by the Philippine government in response to regional tensions. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed telecom companies to offer these services to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in countries such as Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
## Telecom Services
Globe Telecom and its sub-brand TM provide a roaming package that includes 1GB of data, 15 minutes of calls, and 15 text messages, valid for seven days. This package activates automatically when users connect to a partner network abroad. Smart Communications users can make free calls to the Philippines using the TinBo app, while PLDT landlines in the Philippines allow families to call loved ones in the Middle East for free.
## DITO Telecommunity
DITO subscribers in the Middle East can also benefit from free calls. Filipinos in the Philippines can call DITO numbers abroad without charge, regardless of the network they use, provided the recipient is a DITO subscriber. This service is available in several countries, including Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
## Government Support
The Philippine government continues to monitor the situation in the Middle East, advising Filipinos to stay safe and vigilant. The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Migrant Workers are actively assisting overseas Filipinos and preparing contingency plans, including potential repatriation if necessary.
