## Iconic Photographer's Legacy
Ramesh Shukla, celebrated as the "royal photographer" of the UAE, has died at the age of 87. Known for capturing pivotal moments in the country's history, Shukla's work includes the famous "Spirit of the Union" photograph and an image of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, both featured on the Dh50 note.
## Final Days
Shukla passed away on Sunday morning at Rashid Hospital in Dubai after battling heart issues for a year. His son, Neel Shukla, recounted his father's final moments, noting his enduring positivity and dedication to his craft.
## A Tireless Passion
Despite health challenges, Shukla remained active, often seen with his camera even in his later years. His commitment to documenting the UAE's history was unwavering, with his extensive collection displayed at the Zayed National Museum and the Etihad Museum.
## Family and Legacy
Shukla is survived by his wife, Tarun, and son, Neel, who plans to continue his father's legacy. Neel highlighted his mother's role in Shukla's work, emphasizing the family's collective contribution to preserving the UAE's history through photography.
