## Key Travel Guidelines for Dubai International Airport
Dubai Airports has published a comprehensive travel guide for passengers using Dubai International Airport (DXB). The guide, titled 'Know before you go,' provides crucial information on banned items, customs declarations, and airport security procedures.
## Prohibited Items and Customs Rules
Travelers are advised to familiarize themselves with the list of prohibited items before arriving in Dubai. These include narcotics, counterfeit goods, gambling devices, and items that contradict Islamic values. Certain goods, such as domestic animals and drones, require special permits from relevant UAE authorities.
Passengers can bring gifts worth up to Dh3,000, 400 cigarettes, and up to 4 liters of alcohol without paying customs duty. However, items exceeding these limits may incur customs duty and VAT.
## Declaration Requirements
Individuals aged 18 and above must declare cash or valuables exceeding Dh60,000. Other items requiring declaration include controlled medicines, firearms, and commercial goods. Declarations can be made verbally, in writing, or electronically.
## Departing from Dubai: Baggage Restrictions
For those leaving Dubai, it is important to check the rules for hand luggage and checked baggage. Items like pepper spray, tasers, and certain lithium batteries are prohibited. Passengers can carry up to 20 spare batteries in hand luggage, with larger batteries requiring airline approval.
## Security Tips for Smooth Travel
To expedite the security process, passengers should have their passport and boarding pass ready, place electronic devices in separate trays, and ensure liquids are in containers of no more than 100ml. Following these guidelines can help reduce waiting times at security checkpoints.
Passengers are encouraged to consult Dubai Airports' official resources for the latest travel requirements and restrictions.
