Nearly 20,000 OFWs reached as Philippine government holds fourth OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Dubai

## Government Initiative in Dubai

The Philippine government has successfully reached nearly 20,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Dubai through its fourth "Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan." Held on November 7 at the Millennium Plaza Downtown Hotel, the event brought together multiple government agencies to provide essential services to Filipinos in the UAE.

## Wide Range of Services

The caravan offered over 50 services, including legal assistance, healthcare, and financial services. It was organized by the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in collaboration with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai. The event continues on November 8 at Al Hudaiba School and the Philippine Consulate General.

## Streamlining Processes

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac highlighted the initiative's success in serving around 70,000 OFWs globally through 26 caravans. A significant development was the signing of an agreement with DataFlow Group to streamline employer accreditation, reducing delays for UAE companies hiring OFWs.

## Addressing Delays and Providing Assistance

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) participated for the first time to help OFWs with delayed government transactions. ARTA's digital services, accessible through the Philippine government’s eGov app, offer a platform for inquiries and complaints.

## Medical and Financial Support

Participants like Diane Martinez, who sought financial aid for medical conditions, benefited from the caravan. The event also provided a platform for OFWs to apply for services like the OWWA e-card and national ID.

## Future Plans

Organizers, including MWO Dubai labor attaché John Rio Bautista, expressed optimism for future editions, with plans for a fifth caravan in early 2027. The initiative aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to enhance support for OFWs, ensuring they remain connected to government services while abroad.
