## Ongoing Beach Closures
Beaches in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain remain closed due to an oil spill from a tanker. The closures, initially announced in late October, are part of efforts to prevent marine pollution from affecting the coastlines.
## Sharjah's Precautionary Measures
Sharjah authorities closed city beaches on October 28 as a precaution. Specialist teams have been deployed to manage the situation and prevent the spread of pollution. Residents and visitors are advised to follow official guidance and avoid restricted areas.
## Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain
Ras Al Khaimah's Public Services Department announced the closure of all public beaches on October 24, with no reopening date yet. Umm Al Quwain also closed its beaches after the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment confirmed the spill's impact on its coastline. Clean-up operations are ongoing in both emirates.
## Oil Leak Contained
As of October 30, authorities confirmed the oil leak had been stopped, with no further leakage detected. Clean-up efforts continue, and satellite images show the oil slick concentrated off Umm Al Quwain, extending towards other coastal areas. Precautionary closures are in place to ensure public safety while assessments and clean-up operations proceed.
## Public Advisory
Authorities urge the public to rely on official updates and avoid spreading unverified information. The situation is being closely monitored, and further announcements will be made regarding the reopening of beaches.
