Mohammad Salah backed for Egypt coach role amid Hossam Hassan suspension

## Salah's Potential Coaching Role

Mohamed Salah, the renowned Liverpool forward, is being considered for a temporary coaching position with Egypt's national football team. This suggestion comes from former national coach Mohsen Saleh, who believes Salah could effectively lead the team during head coach Hossam Hassan's suspension.

## Hassan's Suspension

Hossam Hassan, along with his brother Ibrahim, received a three-match suspension from FIFA. This decision followed their critical remarks about refereeing after Egypt's narrow 3-2 loss to Argentina in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16. The suspension will prevent them from participating in Egypt's upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

## Salah's Qualifications

Saleh argues that Salah possesses the necessary skills and leadership qualities to guide the team in the upcoming matches. He draws parallels with other players who have successfully balanced playing and coaching roles, such as Kenny Dalglish and Ryan Giggs.

## Egypt's Upcoming Matches

With the suspension in place, Egypt faces crucial matches against Malawi and Angola. Salah's involvement could provide a unique opportunity for him to influence the team beyond his on-field contributions.

## Salah's Legacy

Salah is a celebrated figure in Egyptian football, having scored 66 goals and provided 37 assists for the national team. Despite his achievements, he has yet to secure a major international trophy, finishing as a runner-up in the Africa Cup of Nations twice. This coaching role could further cement his legacy in Egyptian football.
