## Record Quarterly Performance
AppLovin, a prominent player in the advertising technology sector, saw its shares surge by nearly 30% on November 5. This significant increase followed the announcement of record-breaking earnings for the third quarter. The company's revenue for the period ending September 30 reached $2.18 billion, marking a 55% rise from the previous year's $1.4 billion. This exceeded analysts' expectations of $2.07 billion.
Net income also saw a substantial increase, climbing 72% to $1.44 billion. The earnings per share were reported at $4.30, surpassing the anticipated $4.04 and significantly higher than the $2.45 recorded a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA was reported at $1.84 billion, reflecting an 84% margin.
## Share Buyback and Future Outlook
In addition to the impressive earnings, AppLovin's board expanded its share buyback program by $3.2 billion, bringing the total authorization to $3.6 billion. The company repurchased 4.1 million shares for $1.4 billion during the quarter. Since the inception of the buyback program, AppLovin has reacquired 104 million shares at an average price of $90 each.
Looking ahead, AppLovin has provided optimistic guidance for the fourth quarter, projecting revenue between $2.365 billion and $2.395 billion, which represents a growth of 43% to 44%. This forecast surpasses analysts' expectations of $2.25 billion. The company also anticipates adjusted EBITDA to range from $1.995 billion to $2.025 billion.
## Strategic Developments
The company's gaming division played a crucial role in the strong quarterly performance, experiencing nearly 50% growth year-on-year. This was partly driven by the introduction of next-generation AI models. Additionally, spending in the consumer vertical saw a triple-digit increase compared to the previous year.
AppLovin's management highlighted the growth of major digital advertising platforms, which expanded between 10% and the mid-20s during the season. The full deployment of the company's new AI models is still forthcoming, and plans to open its Axon advertising platform to self-serve advertisers globally are in progress....
