The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has introduced a new system to simplify the process of obtaining sick leave certificate attestation in several emirates. This change aims to reduce the burden on patients by allowing healthcare facilities to handle the attestation requests directly.

## Key Changes

Previously, individuals had to initiate the attestation process themselves. Now, healthcare facilities will submit these requests on behalf of patients. This shift means that once a sick leave certificate is issued, the facility will automatically send the attestation request to MoHAP, streamlining the process.

## Who Benefits

Patients in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah who seek sick leave certificates from MoHAP facilities will benefit from this new system. The automatic link between attestation and approval also applies to employees of the Federal Government and local governments in these emirates. Additionally, companions of patients can have their leave requests processed simultaneously.

## Motivation Behind the Change

The initiative aligns with the UAE Government’s Zero Bureaucracy objectives, aiming to simplify procedures and enhance service efficiency. Abdullah Ahli, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at MoHAP, emphasized the ministry's commitment to improving customer experience and government efficiency through these changes.
