UAE airports Monday update: Airspace closures halt flights across major carriers

## Flight Suspensions Across UAE

On Monday, flight operations at major UAE airports were halted due to ongoing regional airspace closures. This decision, confirmed by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), affects Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai, and Air Arabia. The GCAA emphasized that passenger safety and airspace protection are top priorities.

## Impact on Major Airports

Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport have suspended flights, advising passengers to avoid traveling to the airports. Zayed International Airport and Sharjah International Airport have also ceased operations, urging travelers to check with airlines before heading to the airport.

## Airline Responses

Emirates has suspended flights until 3:00 pm on March 2, allowing passengers to rebook for travel up to March 20 or request refunds. Etihad Airways has halted flights until 2:00 pm, offering free rebooking for tickets issued before February 28. flydubai and Air Arabia have also suspended flights, with Air Arabia extending cancellations to several regional destinations until March 3.

## International Carriers and Passenger Support

International airlines like Air India and Pakistan International Airlines have also announced suspensions or reroutings. The UAE is covering costs for stranded passengers, providing accommodation and meals. Approximately 20,200 passengers have been managed through integrated measures to reduce congestion and maintain safety.
