New UAE banking platform to reduce repeated customer document updates

## Streamlining Document Updates

The United Arab Emirates is set to introduce a new digital banking platform aimed at simplifying the process of updating customer documents. This initiative will allow personal information to be automatically updated across multiple banks, reducing the need for customers to submit the same documents repeatedly.

## "Golden Source" Principle

The platform operates on a "golden source" principle, where information is sourced directly from official entities. This means that data such as Emirates ID and passport details can be electronically retrieved and updated without requiring customers to provide renewed documents to each bank individually.

## Enhancing Digital Banking

Jamal Saleh, Director General of the UAE Banks Federation, highlighted that this project is part of broader efforts to enhance digital banking under the guidance of the Central Bank of the UAE. The platform is expected to be operational by the end of the year, leveraging the country's advanced digital infrastructure.

## Broader Financial Initiatives

In addition to the new platform, the UAE is also focusing on improving its payments infrastructure and cybersecurity. This includes the development of Jaywan, the first national payment card, and efforts to support the Central Bank's digital currency. These initiatives aim to make banking services more efficient and secure, while also facilitating faster and more cost-effective cross-border transactions.
