The Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has issued a warning to Indian citizens traveling to Malaysia, advising them not to seek employment while on a tourist visa. This advisory comes in response to a significant increase in cases where Indian nationals have entered Malaysia under the 30-day visa-free entry scheme with the intention of finding work.

## Risks of Seeking Employment

The advisory highlights the risks associated with this practice, including being misled by fraudulent agents who promise jobs that do not exist. Such situations often lead to visa overstays, illegal residency, exploitation by employers, and potential detention by Malaysian authorities, followed by legal consequences.

## Visa-Free Entry Guidelines

The High Commission emphasized that Malaysia's visa-free entry is strictly for tourism and social visits, not for employment. Indian travelers are urged to carry proper documentation, such as a confirmed return ticket, hotel reservations, and a passport valid for at least six months. Additionally, they should complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online three days before arrival.

## Legal Requirements

The advisory strongly advises against traveling to Malaysia for work without securing the appropriate work permit or visa with reference (VDR). This measure aims to protect Indian nationals from exploitation and legal issues related to unauthorized employment in Malaysia.
