The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) has issued a warning about a new scam where fraudsters impersonate the regulator. These scammers claim that the DFSA is holding a box filled with cash and gold bars for the recipient.

## Fraudulent Demands and Tactics

Victims are told they must pay a fee of 11.1% of the package's value to have it released. The scammers pose as DFSA officials and use AI-generated images to make their claims appear legitimate. These images show the supposed package at DFSA offices, complete with the recipient's name and the DFSA logo.

## DFSA's Clarification

The DFSA has clarified that it does not hold any such packages or charge fees for releasing them. They also do not have a Compliance Department that processes these claims, nor do they use email addresses ending in "@dfsaofficals.com".

## Identifying the Scam

Key indicators of this scam include unexpected claims of valuables being held, demands for advance fees, impersonation of DFSA officials, and pressure to act quickly. The use of AI-generated images is another red flag.

## Protecting Yourself

The DFSA advises against paying money to access promised funds or responding to suspicious communications. Verify any claims independently using official contact details. Be wary of unsolicited messages and requests for urgent payments.

## Reporting and Action

If you suspect you have been targeted, do not respond or send money. Report any suspicious correspondence to the DFSA through their Complaints function. If money has already been sent, contact your bank and the police immediately.
