The long-awaited Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open its doors to the public on December 11, 2026. Tickets are priced at Dh70, with free entry for children under 18, students, and seniors over 60. The museum is located in the Saadiyat Cultural District on Saadiyat Island.

## Architectural Highlights

Designed by Frank Gehry, the museum spans 80,000 square meters, making it the largest in the Guggenheim network. Its design features 28 galleries connected through a central atrium, with ten sculptural cones providing shade and ventilation.

## Art Collection

The collection, owned by the Abu Dhabi government, includes over 970 works from more than 400 artists across 70 countries. It focuses on art from the Gulf, West Asia, North Africa, and South Asia, alongside international artists like Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol.

Instead of a chronological layout, the museum organizes its galleries around themes such as Abstractions, Popular Culture, and Storytelling, allowing visitors to explore connections across different regions and eras.

## Management and History

The museum is a collaboration between Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Dr. Valerie Hillings serves as the inaugural director. The project, initially announced in 2006, faced delays but is now set to open after construction resumed in 2019.
