## Emotional Farewell in Dubai

Nurses from across the UAE gathered in Dubai to bid a heartfelt farewell to Soumya Augustine, a 41-year-old nurse from Kerala, India. Soumya, who worked in the cardiology department at Rashid Hospital, passed away after a prolonged battle with lung cancer. Her family, including her husband and three children, were by her side during her final moments.

## Silent Battle with Cancer

Soumya's illness was discovered during a routine check-up amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite her diagnosis, she continued her duties with a smile, never letting her condition affect her work. Her cancer, initially managed, relapsed recently, prompting her to take leave for treatment.

## Community Tribute

Funeral prayers were held at an embalming center in Al Muhaisnah, attended by her colleagues from Rashid Hospital and other UAE hospitals. Members of her church in Sharjah and the Emirates Malayali Nurses Family (EMNF) also participated. Her body was later repatriated to Kerala for her funeral.

Siyad K Jamaludeen, president of EMNF, praised Soumya's strength and positivity. Her colleagues remembered her as a compassionate and dedicated nurse, whose smile and kindness inspired those around her. Soumya's legacy as a fighter and a caring soul will be cherished by all who knew her.
